The creation of this series was through a three-step process: shooting various locations on Polaroid, photocopying them, and transferring the photocopies onto small canvasses. Through each step in this process - which is more akin to printmaking than photography - the images have continued to lose detail, leaving nothing more than a trace of what was originally there. Unlike a traditional approach to film based photography, which is continually reproducible, these images are unique and evidence the intervention of the artist's hand upon their integrity as a mechanical record of the environment. They reflect, to a certain degree, the way in which time intervenes and eventually dulls memory.
